Mental Toughnessby Doug Strycharczyk
If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.
Mental Toughness is an important concept in psychology and describes an individual’s capacity or ability to deal with stressors, pressure and challenges.
It is widely used in the sports world to explain differences in performance, and recent work has now produced strong evidence that it has major applications in the workplace, education and social arenas.
Mental Toughness appears to have two main applications in Human Resource Management, which combine to provide a wide range of additional uses:
- Development of individual (and group) peak performance
- Stress management.
