Goal Setting

by Arielle Essex

Your energy, drive and success are directly proportional to the goals you set. Setting goals is the fastest and most effective way to achieve any purpose. So the best goals are the ones that are aligned with your deepest values and inner sense of direction – your internal gyroscope. When these are in alignment, everything you do, as you move towards achieving your goals, will stay in balance.

A goal properly set is half way reached.

Abraham Lincoln

If your goals never get achieved, if your results don’t match your expectations, if you are frantically busy but getting nothing done, if you’ve forgotten why you are doing what you are doing, then it may be time to review what makes your life meaningful and re-assess your goals.

Goal setting, done properly, saves precious time. The more you clarify your objectives and stay on track with your priorities, the less time you will waste chasing pointless goals and getting distracted.

This topic explains how to focus constructively on what you want in such a way as to make it a highly probable part of your future. It also covers the myths and misconceptions that people have about setting goals, examines why many people fail to achieve the goals they set, and explains what to do about it if this applies to you.

The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made. And the activity of making them changes both the maker and their destination.
